Barstow is a modern and growing city of about 24,000 in San Bernardino County, California. Several major highways including Interstate 15, Interstate 40, and State Highway 58 converge in the city. Historic Route 66 runs through Barstow and the town's name is mentioned in the lyrics to the song, "Route 66". It is centrally located in the western Mojave at the entrance to the Mojave National Preserve

 

Barstow is located about midway between Los Angeles, CA and Las Vegas, NV. More than 55 million people travel through Barstow each year. The city is a great stopping off place for a few days to enjoy the sights, before you get back in to the big city hustle and bustle areas.

Tanger Outlet Center has a great selection of outlet stores with good prices. There are several restaurants and hotels nearby. Shop the brand name outlets just off I-15 in Barstow!

 

The Casa Del Desierto, built in 1911 as a Harvey House hotel and train station, now houses the Mojave River Valley Museum, the Western America Rail Museum and still functions as an Amtrak station. The Barstow Route 66 Museum displays a collection of historic photographs and artifacts related to Route 66 and the Mojave Desert Communities.

Barstow is home to Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow and is the closest city to Fort Irwin Military Reservation. West of Barstow is Edwards Air Force Base - home to the Air Force Flight Test Center.

Stoddard Valley - located between Victorville and 8 miles south of Barstow. 5,000 acres of open area.

Rasor - located 45 mi northwest of Barstow. 22,500 acres of open area.

Dumont Dunes - located 30 miles north of Baker on Hwy 127 - 8,150 acres of open area.

Johnson Valley - located 15 miles east of Lucerne Valley on Hwy 247. 140,000 acres of open area.

El Mirage/Shadow Mountains - located 10 miles west of Adelanto. 24,000 acres of area
